Maybe I'm just lame but I found more tihngs I disliked about Romeo and Juliet then likes.
In a nutshell, I thought Shakespeare had, for the most part, an interesting story line, and the way he worded it was amazingly original. But I found that the play-by-play was pretty lame. He was really cheesy and he made the charactors out to be pretty stupid. it was overexagerated. If I were to fall madly inlove with some 17 year old that I meet at this party, get married to him and then find out that our groups of friends can't stand each other, then on top of that find out that he killed on of my friends gets sespended from school, i'm not going to drop out of school because of it. Then is this guy were to find out that I dropped out of school then...i don't know it just seems a little of dramatic, but then again maybe thats what Skapespeare was going for. I don't know, I'm not him.

Things I can't do because of my age.
I guess theres a lot of things I can't do because of my age. But it's hard to think of them off the top of my head. I wish I could drive, get a tattoo, buy drinks and all that good stuff. It's not like I'm going ot get a tatto any time soon and I don't want to become and alchoholic or adicted to tabaco but it's cool to know that i am able to buy that stuff. but I guess if there were no age limits it wouldn't be super awesome to be able to buy all that stuff. There's also the places I wish I could go but I'm to young. Like this free concert over the summer, I couldn't go because it was 18 and up. I guess thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

Odysey Test 1/23/07
1.What have you learned about Greek culture, values, and religion? Address the roles of women and men, honor and virtues, gods and goddesses, etc. (250 words)
In the Greek cultures I have learned that most men thought themselves higher then women. They were always the ones who had to out to war and the ones that had to go out and bring home the bacon. Honor and virtues played a tremendous role in this for the men, as well as the women. People would be honorable if they had been in many wars and if they were wealthy. Say a wealthy man was riding down the road and he saw an old beggar man, he probably did not feel any motivation to help the beggar neither did he feel compassion or sympathy to the beggar. The wealthy man would just keep going on his way as if nothing out the ordinary had just happened. For example a royal family would look down upon the poor or the less fortunate. Of course there were, and still are, the few who respected those less fortunate.
The gods and goddesses on the other hand, they are like one group that is respected with any thought. From the moment Greek children were born they were taught about the gods and goddesses. All Greeks prayed as often as possible at any time in their lives they needed extra help. Offerings were giving, such as sheep and goats. It seemed as if an offering should be given as sign of respect toward the gods.
What resonated with you in reading about Odysseus’ adventures? Why? (150 words)
It is hard for one to endure the thought of leaving the one they love without the knowledge as to whether or not they would ever see each other again. It is even harder to leave home on the day your first child is born.
Odysseus had to endeavor both these feats. Odysseus did not only leave the woman he was in love with but also his first born son, and one day ere to his thrown. The day his son was born Odysseus could not have been more proud. Odysseus brought his son on top of a hill and showed the kingdom to its future king. As he did so, Odysseus realized he would be leaving his pleasant home in Ithaca to right in the Trogon War.
Imagining the strength Odysseus must have had to be able to leave him wife and new born son. Everyone new he was strong but this seems almost impossible. Not knowing when my return would be if there were to be one, that alone would prevent my going. Before Odysseus left he made his wife make him a promise; If he did not return she must remarry. Odysseus was not only physically empowering but also mentally.
3. This epic poem is dated nearly 3000 years ago, why is it still relevant? (150 words)
3000 years ago or modern day, people seek a hero. Everyone needs someone to look up too. Now that does not mean everyone needs Odysseus as their hero, but the few that enjoy Greek mythology, Odysseus is a rightful hero.
The poem subtly teaches the act of leadership, honesty, and bravery. The way Homer wrote about Odysseus leading his armies into epic battles and returning home victorious. Homer wrote about how Odysseus and his men got along and respected each other. Odysseus treated his men equally and acted how he felt. The odyssey teaches these things.
Life is an odyssey, it has twists and turns. One minute your in one place another minutes you somewhere totally different. The odyssey fallows Odysseus on journey through life. From the good to the bad Homer recorded it for us to share amongst each other. Life never stops, be careful not to waste is. Odysseus never spared a moment, neither should we.
4. How would you characterize the narrator, the fictive "Homer" whose voice we imagine as singing the verses of the Odyssey?
It is almost as if Homer is telling a tale of himself through the name Odysseus. He made Odysseus more exciting. If you look close enough and really think about it, the phases Odysseus went through may have been over exaggerated tales of phases Homer went through.
5. What kinds of behavior are treated as contemptible in the Odyssey?
A women being untrue to her husband, and acting out of place.
6. How does the poem represent mortal women? Since Penelope is the most important woman in the Odyssey, what qualities does she possess, and how does she respond to the troubles she faces? (Some of the other women are of note, too-Eurycleia the serving woman, the faithless maidservants, Nausicaa the Phaeacian princess, and Helen of Sparta, Menelaus' queen, whose elopement with Prince Paris sparked the Trojan War.)
Mortal women age, unlike goddesses who live forever. I believe more is expected of them because they are mortal. They must marry and work harder.
7. How do Homer's gods think and behave? How do their actions and motivations differ from the conception of god in other religions of which you have knowledge? What role do the Homeric gods play in human affairs, and what is the responsibility of humans with respect to those gods?
Homers god are more interactive. They will show up when a human is in need to lend some advice. Most people just pray to a god and hope for the best. With Homers gods they actually appear and communicate with mortals. Homers gods are respected with an offering of some sort, which I understand but I don’t know how it started to become a routine.

old blogs
All my old blogs from last samester:
Waking Life: we didn't get to finish this movie, but room what saw I thought it was really great. In the beginning it’s just a bunch a deep conversations and I couldn't quite figure out what they were talking about but then in the end he finds out it is a dream and then thinks he is dead. I really liked the part where has talking to think guy on a bridge. Everything the man on the bridge is saying is kind of deep and meaningful but just they way that he words things is really unique. I liked it a lot. I also like this part in the beginning where he gets into this car-boat thing and they man driving starts talking about something with crayons. I wish I could quote that movie. It is really good.
Spirited Away, Tutor, and Princess Minooka: Similarities they all had a little since of humor, but at the same time they were all sort of deep. The movies gave everything a double meaning. It’s hard to describe it exactly but it was very cool. Before I had seen these movies, I were flipping through the channels and had come across one of thee movies I wouldn't stop and watch them, now I will. They are very interesting. It's cooled the try and thinks how the director came up with the idea of making these movies. They're not normal cartoons. They're quite interesting. In al three movies threes a large creature or being. Normally the object is good, and then something bad, I guess, over-powers it. While the object is over-power by the "bad" the rest of the people in the movie try and get everything back to normal. I probably could have worded that better, but that’s what I've noticed. There is always some sort of good and evil fighting each other in a way. Especially in the Princess Minooka (I think I spelt that wrong). Princess Minooka seems much more realistic. Not in the way that the cartoons are drawn but in the way the characters act. I want to say it reminds me of Lord of the Rings, but it reminds me of a movie like that. Tutor, on the other hand, is a happier movie. Tutor is just a happy creature. That move is a lot funnier then the other two. My favorite part in that movie is when the two sisters are waiting at the train station for their dad and Totoro comes up with the umbrella. It's funny because the umbrella is way too small for Totoro. Spirited away was good. Now that I think about it the two boys in princess mononoki and spirited away seem the same.
This topic reminds me of a combination of the movies saw and breakfast club. I have seen saw but I no that hey try and kill each other because there is some sort of antidote for something inside someone's head...yummy. Say that the people meet in detention, that the breakfast club part. I'm not very good at doing a dialog; I've never really done it before. Namarari need names. Or I could jusdescribee the story without any dialog. So the story has to be like, a bunch of random people meet up somehow and then they all gang up on one kid and kill him. The only thing Isis that I have to describe then fighting the temptation to kill someoneÂ…or something like that. Let’s say that five older teenagers meet in an after-school art club. Sami, Peter, Paul, Sofia, and George. They had never met before and during the first art meeting, everything seems to be going quite well. Then when George walks into the room. He places his eyes on Paul with a nasty stare. Everyone looks around with undecided looks on their faces as George sits down. After about 20 minutes of silence, Sami decides to start a conversation. The conversation is about the art project they are going to start next week. Everyone else except George joins in on the conversation, but it is still on the verge of awkwardness. George is the kind of boy that dresses in mostly black clothes, listens to death metal and doesn't really have a whole lot of friends. He doesn't get great grades but he passes his classes. Sami, on the other hand, is a straight a student, lots of friends and always has a smile on her face. She has straight long brown hair that goes about an inch or so past her shoulder. Paul lets see, Paul has a few close friends and a lot oaquanktenceses. His grades are okay but not great, and he is very nice. Peter and Sofia are siblings, but t he kind of siblings that get along really wealthier are twins but Sofia never lets Peter remember that she was born before, therefore making her the older, cool, smarter, just plain awesome one. Don't' get me wrong though, Peter is a pretty cool guy. The whole reason George gave Peter that rather unpleasant glair was because in 7th grade he spread a rumor. We will get to that later. The only person out of the five of them is Sofia, because of the whole sibling thing. Oh, times up.
my o.k. and/or how I would like to die normally when I find something that I really like, I don't really obsess about it but I try and find as much abut it as I can. For instance in 6th grade I really liked this band, I went to their concert, got a sweatshirt with the bands name on it and I read their biography. Normally I don't read on my own but I read as much as I would about that band. I no it sounds freaky but it’s just what I do. My favorite number is 3 so now if I do something 2 times I have to do it one more time so that I have done it three times. In movies if someone knocks on a door 2 or 4 times it annoys me because I want them to do it 3 times. The number thing used to be a lot worse then it is now. Oh! This one really drives me crazy, well there are two things. When my mom will go t star bucks and get coffee she leaves the cups on the counter then complains to me about how I never throw anything away. also when I’m walking with a group oh people and one or two people separate and walk on another side of a telephone pole or a lamp post I will make the people that cut the post kiss it because its bad luck to cut things lamp posts and telephone poles. I would like to die in a surprisingly way, then I won't be expecting it. Well I don't no I don't really think about death. the reason I would want to no when imp dieing is just so that I won't take advantage of the time I have left, but the reason I wouldn't want to know is so that imp not all sad about dieing.
my advantages and disadvantages I would have to say that my biggest disadvantage is that I have manger anxiety. it's normally just about dumb things like not wanting to be called on in certain classes, and i hate having to do verbal reports. but my life is really good. i have great friends, i get along with my mom pretty well, i mean she's not my best friend but i wouldn't want want to be. im really tired today. today the spanish ll kids are coming in and their gonna help us with our work, so im really excited to have spanish today. sydne, pete, and sally are going to be helping us, which is awsome! i feel bad im not writing very much today but i don't really know what to say. everybody has disadvantages but i beleive that thing even out. if not right away then over time they will. what im getting at is, if your life isn'tthat great or you think you ahve a lit of disadvantages most likely you have a much better life tehn you migth think. you shouldn't tak ethings for granted and personally i think a lotof people do that
